Reading Test

We will have our first reading test this Friday. It will cover vocabulary and comprehension questions from The Gardener. We made vocabulary flap books this week in class. Students can use his/her flap book to prepare for the test. Students will be able to look back at the story when taking his/her test. However, students will not be able to use the book for the vocabulary questions.

Writing Assignment

4B students are in the process of collecting information on his/her name. Expect your child to ask questions about his/her name. I've also added links to our website that may be useful.

Scholastic Book Order

The September book order went home this week. Lots of great titles and good deals!  The due date for all orders is Thursday, September 1.  For every online purchase we will earn a free book for our class. So give online ordering a try. There is a link to the Scholastic Book Club at the top of this page. You may also fill out the order form and send the money to school. Checks should be made payable to Scholastic Book Clubs. Also, if you are ordering from more than one flyer you only need to write one check.  Happy Reading!!

Science Quiz

Our first science quiz will be on Friday, September 2. It will cover the Scientific Method.  Students will need to write the definitions of each step of the scientific method (Question, Hypothesis, Materials, Procedure, Results, Conclusion). The steps will also need to be in order. Each student should have brought home a study guide today.

Spelling Tests

Today we took our first spelling pre-test. Our final test will be on Wednesday. Throughout the year we will continue to take our pre-test on Thursdays and our final spelling test on Wednesdays. Below you will find the Unit 1 Spelling Lists.  Also, be sure to have your child use the link for Spelling City at the top of this page to study his/her words.

Parent Homework

4B Parents,
Our first day in 4B went very well. In your child's backpack you will find a letter that tells a little bit about your child's teacher. The letter also mentions a small assignment meant for you. I am requiring each parent to write a letter telling me about your child.  Your due date for the assignment is August 29, 2011.
