Science Test
On Tuesday, September 6, We will have a test on the scientific method. Students will need to know the steps of the scientific method and write a brief description of each step. Please use your note sheet to prepare. Also use the sentence "Queen Helen Made Prune Rice Cookies" to help remember the order of the steps.
Flashlight Read
Yesterday, we announced the fourth grade 30 book reading challenge! Our big kick-off will be this Friday (September 2). We will have our first of many "flashlight reads." Please bring a flashlight or small reading light to school on Friday. You may also choose to read on your device. We will dim the lights and read by flashlight during our independent reading time.

Fall Running Club
The PTA will be offering a Fall Running Club as a Fundraiser for Owen Team IPEF. We will meet in the gym after school on Wednesdays in September and finish at 4:30.
We will run around the sidewalk of the school and play running games in the gym and field behind school. COST of PTA Running Club for Team IPEF: $10 for one child, $15
for families with more than one child. Permission forms can be found on the Owen
website and should be returned with payment (checks made out to Owen PTA) to the
main office by September 2nd

Field Trip Reminder
The Kendall County Forest Preserve Field Trip is on Friday, May 20. Please make sure that your child arrives to school on time and brings a disposable sack lunch. Students should also wear good walking shoes.

State Fair Reminder
Don't forget, our 4th Grade Annual State Fair is on Wednesday, May 18th. Students need to arrive at 6:45 pm to prepare for this event. Starting time for the State Fair is 7:00 pm and we will conclude at 8:00 pm. Looking forward to seeing everyone!!

State Fair Floats
Dear 4B Parents,
On Friday, May 13, I have set aside time for students to work on his/ her State Fair Float. We will be using shoe boxes as the base of the float. Students should bring in a covered shoe box on or before May 13. Students may choose any type of paper (construction paper, scrapbook paper, etc.) to cover his/her box with. The box should be completely covered.
On May 13, students should also come prepared with any additional materials needed to decorate floats. This may include decorative paper or scissors, embellishments, pictures, etc. Students will be able to use some basic supplies from the classroom (construction paper, popsicle sticks, tissue paper, etc.). State Fair
Last week, your child brought home a blue note that introduced parents to the 4th grade State Fair. It had very important dates and times. Hopefully you had time to review it with your child. There is also a bottom portion that needs to be signed and returned. This week, look for a yellow note regarding State Fair. It will give students a timeline. It's a guideline to help students keep on track with his/her State Fair activities.
Field Trip Reminder
Our field trip to see the Elgin Symphony Orchestra is this Wednesday, April 13. If your child did not order a school lunch through Aramark, he/she will need to bring a lunch. We will be eating lunch in our classroom upon our return from the field trip. Please contact me with any additional questions.

Reading Test
This Friday (3/11), we will have a reading test for the story, Nights of the Pufflings. This is a story from our fourth grade reading book. The test will consists of vocabulary and comprehension questions. For the comprehension questions, students will be able to look back at their reading book. However, students will not be able to use the book for the vocabulary portion. Here is a link to review the vocabulary words from the story.

PARCC Testing
PARCC Testing for fourth grade students is currently scheduled for the following dates: 4-22, 4-25, 4-26, 4-27, 4-28, 4-29 and 5-2. It is important that your child be in attendance and arrive on time to school.

Open House Reminder
