Unit 2 Math Test corrections
Your child's Unit 2 math test will be sent home today. If your child scored below 70%, he/she needs to make corrections on his/her test and turn it in by Wednesday, November 7. For each correction your child will earn a 1/2 point. This will help to boost their test grade. Please contact me if you have any questions.

We've completed our study guide for the Northeast States. Hopefully your child has shared the test date with you. Lunch Book Club
Our first lunch book club will start this Wednesday. Please check out the link for more details.
Social Studies
On Friday, we reviewed the continents and oceans. We will have a quiz on Wednesday, September 19. Students can use his/her world map poster to prepare. Students, remember not to glue your continent/ocean flashcards onto the map. Just place them on the map so that you can practice over and over. You can also use the continent/ocean links that are located at the top of this website for extra practice.

Chromebook Implementation
This is a reminder that we will have Al Davenport, Director of Instructional Technology at Owen on Thursday, August 23rd from 6:30-7:30 (in the LMC). He will be discussing digital citizenship and Chromebook implementation. There will also be the opportunity for you to see and sign the required permission slip for your child to receive his/her Chromebook.

Reminders for the Last Week of School
Tuesday, May 29- Field Day: Please dress appropriately. Wear gym shoes and bring a water bottle. It may be a good idea to apply sunscreen in the morning, we will be going outside at 9:30. We will have a picnic lunch outside, bring a small blanket or towel to sit on.
Wednesday, May 30- Kendall County Field Trip: Dress appropriately for lots of walking. Students may wear water shoes or rain boots for the creek exploration. Students will need to bring a disposable lunch unless a school lunch was already ordered in advance.
Thursday, May 31- Chromebook Turn-in: Students will need to bring his/her Chromebook to school. These items will be collected at the end of the day. Students will need to bring his/her Chromebook to school on full charge. We will be using them on Thursday.
Yearbook Signing: Students will be able to get his/her yearbook signed by classmates and teachers. Don't forget to bring your yearbook and a pen.

Field Trip Reminder
Please remember that our field trip to Kendall County Forest Preserve is on Monday (5/21). Each student will need to bring a disposable lunch. If you selected a school lunch on the field trip form lunch will be provided for your child. Please check the weather and remind your child to dress appropriately. Students were told to wear swim shoes (closed toe) if they want to walk in the creek (optional).

PARCC Testing
PARCC testing will begin on Monday, March 5. I have posted a detailed schedule on this website for your convenience. Please make sure that your child comes to school well rested and prepared. Students will take the PARCC Test on his/her Chromebook. Please remind your child to come to school with his/her Chromebook fully charged. Several students do not have earbuds. Students will need a set of earbuds during PARCC testing. If your child does not have earbuds, please send a set to school on Monday, March 5th.

Research/Writing Projects
We are currently working on 2 research/writing projects in 4B. Hopefully your student has already shared that he/she is required to do a "President" research activity and has started to work on it as well. Each student has received a packet that will guide him/her through this activity. This activity will be completed entirely at home. The "President" report is due on March 5.
In class, we are working on "Endangered Animal" reports. I will be guiding the students through this project and it will be completed at school.

Open House
Open House will be on Wednesday, February 28, from 6:30-7:30. We are beginning to prepare for this event at school. Please help your child to bring in the following materials:
Dear Parent,
Our 4th grade class is doing something special for Open House and we need the following items in order to complete the project:
o A long-sleeved shirt (NO sweaters or v-necks)
o A pair of long pants
o 7 very LARGE safety pins (2” long)
o Some old newspaper that you no longer need.
These items should be clean, but not good dress clothes. (Sweat pants, really don’t work very well.)
We must have these items by Friday, February, 23.
Items will be returned in their original condition after Open House.

Person I Admire Speech
Dear 4B Parents,
Next Tuesday (February 13th) students will be giving a speech about a person they admire. It needs to be approximately 2 minutes in length.
Today I sent home information explaining the requirements.. I have also attached the links to our class website so that you can view the note and rubric electronically.
Although not required, they may use notecards as well as other visual aids while giving their speech.
Just wanted to give you all a heads up. Thanks in advance for letting them practice in front of you at home.
